skin contact
Red light therapy is most effective on bare skin, so we recommend removing clothing, towels, and makeup. (Lightweight, thin fabrics are also fine.)
Eye protection
Contact lenses should be removed if possible. The LEDs are very bright, so we recommend using the included protective goggles, especially if your eyes are very sensitive to bright light or if you suffer from an eye condition. This is particularly important when near-infrared (NIR) light is active, as it is invisible to the naked eye.
Frequency of use for beginners
We recommend starting with short sessions, especially when dealing with more sensitive areas of the body.
For beginners, we recommend starting with 2-3 minute sessions per area. Over the course of 2-3 weeks, you can gradually work your way up to a 10-minute session per treatment area. Give your body time to adjust. To get used to Helsi™ red light therapy.
Standard application frequency
We recommend spending no more than 15 minutes (per treatment area) in a single session. Ideally, maintain a distance of 15-30 cm from your skin. The Helsi™ red light therapy lamp is used. The distance to the device depends on the number of LEDs in the device and their irradiance.
We recommend a minimum of 3 sessions per week. To experience the positive effects of the therapy, if more than one session per day is desired, the sessions should be spaced at least 6 hours apart. If you have limited time, it is more beneficial to have one shorter session per day than none at all.
Light distance
The closer you are to the light during therapy sessions, the shorter your session should be, as only smaller areas of the body can be covered. If you stand further away to cover a larger area, you will need correspondingly more time.
For skin problems:
The skin requires 3 to 15 joules of red light (660 nm) per session, which you can achieve as follows:
- 15 cm distance from the light for 30 seconds to 2.5 minutes
- 30 cm Distance from light for 1 minute to 3.5 minutes
- 45 cm Distance from the light for 1.5 to 5 minutes
- 60 cm Distance from light for 2 to 7 minutes
- 90 cm Distance from light for 3 to 14 minutes
For deep-seated complaints:
For the treatment of ailments affecting muscles, brain, bones, tendons, glands, fat, and joints, you will need between 10 and 40 joules of near-infrared light (850 nm). In this case, we recommend getting closer to the light source. Here are some guidelines to consider:
- 15 cm away from the light for 2 to 7 minutes
- 30 cm away from the light for 5 to 10 minutes
Time of treatment
The timing of your treatment depends on your individual needs. Perform red light therapy at the time of day that suits you best. Treatments in the morning, afternoon, and evening are equally effective. Those who have a red light therapy session first thing in the morning will start the day with more energy. In the evening, on the other hand, a treatment helps you fall asleep faster and promotes a restful sleep.
